Elcimai Ville de Marseille - Mumm 30
DERUELLE Dimitri
Profile
The objective of the crew is clear and ambitious: winning the 2007 Tour de France sailing and not giving up the French Champions title for crews won in 2006. Uncontested leader in its class, the crew led by Dimitri Deruelle and Maxime Paul sails on Elcimaï - Ville de Marseille. The aim is that every member of the project (crew members, loyal technical partners and two main sponsors) comes out stronger and enriched by this adventure: the performance and sporting achievements being the natural outcome of this synergy. Convinced that their Team is one of best, Dimitri Deruelle and Maxime Paul wish to accomplish this project based on the same sporting spirit up to 2010. The Skipper: Dimitri Déruelle.
Dimitri took his first steps on a boat in 1982 and got himself noticed by winning the IYRU World Championships in Junior 420 and Laser2 in 1988 and 1989. Following his beginnings in the 470 class, he was brilliantly selected for the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona and was a training partner for the French crew at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta which finished with a respectable sixth place. He stays on the trapeze for the 2000 Olympics preparation but decides to steer with the 49er, a thrilling new Olympic dinghy and once again wins his ticket to the Olympics? At high level still, Dimitri continues to rise in monotype regattas (Melges 24, Mumm 30, Multihull) and in the Match-Racing circuit. As a high level coach, Dimitri is also striving to develop sailing for the youths in Marseille.
